Sales, Scheduling, Coordinating/Planning, & Estimating
Production Scheduling Supervisor, Richard Sussey, is responsible for scheduling your projects through Pacific Bindery’s plant and for scheduling our resources.
Richard has taken a leadership role in our continuous improvement efforts and his work has made a difference in keeping us focused on quality. Richard has over 25 years of experience working in the printing and finishing industry. His experiences and skills provide us with valuable expertise in scheduling, coordinating and problem solving. Richard works closely with our production coordination team, our plant floor supervisors, and with you, our customers, to ensure that projects are ready on their ‘promise dates’.
Dickson Burke joined Pacific Bindery Services in 2003 and he has worked in our industry for more than 27 years. He is well known and well regarded for his hard work and commitment to getting the job done. His bindery experience, knowledge and skills provide strong support for our customers. He is dedicated to providing the best service possible and works closely with customers to turn challenges into opportunities.
Dickson’s knowledge of our processes and capabilities is invaluable in delivering accurate and timely estimates for your projects.
Nancy Lock has been with PBS since 2012, and previously worked at Arkwel Industries Ltd. Nancy specializes in working collaboratively with clients to find solutions for challenging work; from recommending the best foil choice for the best result, to discussions on layout, substrates, prototyping, testing and sampling, and design.
Nancy’s knowledge, commitment and focus on getting the best possible result for each project make her a highly respected leader of our coordinating and planning team.
Carrie Clark joined Pacific Bindery Services in 2012, and previously worked for a long time at Arkwel Industries Ltd. Carrie has the depth and the experience that comes from working first on the plant floor and progressing from there to production coordination, and ultimately to estimating.
Carrie has an excellent memory (highly useful when we need to remember when and how we’ve handled a unique or challenging process previously) and has the ability to visualize and explain the processes required to achieve the client’s end result. Carrie’s problem solving skills have helped us find the best solution for producing the results the end client wants.
Cam Rouse has been with PBS since 2012, and graduated from the Graphic Communications Technology program at BC Institute of Technology earlier that year. Cam started out in our Die Shop computing files and worked in a number of other departments on the plant floor. His plant floor knowledge and BCIT education helped make him an invaluable part of our team. He was promoted to the position of Production Coordinator in 2014.
Cam often provides support on prototyping project development and enjoys developing work through the start to the finish.
Multi-talented, he is involved in coordinating orders for both the binding and finishing areas for our customers’ projects and provides support as needed to the coordination of Die Shop orders.
Jean Stewart joined PBS in July 2014 and brought her experience, knowledge and enthusiasm with her. After a long and storied career in printing and envelope manufacturing (with a couple of side trips into other careers), Jean came back to where she started – in the bindery. Jean earned a bindery apprenticeship in her early years in the industry, under the tutelage of a senior Scottish tradeswoman.
PBS was lucky to present enough of a challenge that Jean was willing to come back to the bindery and work with us to deliver exceptional service and value to our customers.
Stephanie joined PBS in 2019 in the role of coordinating client work.
She joined us as a new grad from Emily Carr University of Art + Design (BFA, Illustration) and also has a degree from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan (BA, Economics).
Stephanie spends every minute not at work drawing and brings her critical eye for design to every job she coordinates. Her experience with Adobe Creative Suites allows her to support clients and coworkers along all stages of production.
Binding & Finishing & Shipping/Receiving
Andy Goyan joined PBS in 2012, and previously worked with Arkwel Industries Ltd. in die making and supervising the production floor. Andy is our Finishing Shift Supervisor and is responsible for managing the productivity and resources of our finishing processes; including handwork, laminating, foil stamping, die cutting, embossing, debossing and die making. He keeps in good shape moving around the production floor, ensuring that jobs are produced to customer specification.
Bryan Allner joined Pacific Bindery Services as our Perfect Binding Operator in 2004 and learned how to manage some of our most challenging binding projects. He trained in the UK and earned his journeyperson certification there. After spending a number of years working in binding companies in Britain, Bryan decided to pursue a new life and new opportunities in Canada.
In 2013, Bryan was promoted to Bindery Shift Supervisor and presently he is responsible for the perfect binding, stitching, folding, mechanical binding and cutting departments. Each of these departments presents unique opportunities and projects and yet Bryan manages to keep calm and focused, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges.
Leigh Samuels is our Shipper/Receiver and has been with PBS since 2012, and previously worked at Arkwel Industries Ltd. Leigh is responsible for receiving all incoming product and scheduling all of our outgoing shipments.
Leigh is a bit gruff on the ‘outside’ but you can see the twinkle in his eye in his picture and in person!
Accounting & Administration Team
Suzanne Olmstead joined Pacific Bindery Services several years ago and works in our Accounting and Administration department. She reviews all job dockets, handles all of our invoicing and provides support in a variety of administration areas.
Suzanne also has a talent for handcrafting cards and often produces unique, one of a kind cards for staff birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions. She fits right in with our finishing and binding staff!
Lori is our Office Administrator/Accounts Payable Clerk – she’s the face you see at our front office (along side Suzanne’s). Lori answers the phones and directs calls to the right person – and tracks us down when we’re out in the plant.
Kris Bovay joined Pacific Bindery Services in 2002. She has over 25 years experience in the Paper and Printing Industries and earned her MBA, with a major in communications, in 2004. Kris represents the company on the Board of PrintForward (formerly BC Printing and Imaging Association) and is past chair of the Binding Industries Association. She also sits on the Advisory Committee for the BCIT Graphic Communications Program and taught business ethics and practices at BCIT for three years.
Kris has overall responsibility for implementing the vision of the company through the day-to-day operations and has direct responsibility for business development, strategy, planning and communications.
As owner of the company and Chief Financial Officer, Brad Clement directs the financial affairs of the company and manages the finance, accounting and administration departments of the business.
Brad joined the company in 1991 and brought with him an excellent sense of humour (a good thing to have in our industry), a keen attention to detail, solid management experience and the ability to work tirelessly to get the job done. In 1998, Brad became a partner in the business, and in 2011 he became the sole owner of PBS (still with his sense of humour intact).
Brad believes in the importance of providing excellent service to our clients and in the importance of supporting our employees so that they are able to deliver high levels of service in a timely, high quality and consistent manner.
With 30 plus years of experience in the printing industry (and some of those years were spent running his own printing operation), Larry Worfolk’s knowledge, skills and understanding of our customers’ needs clearly enable him to provide exceptional service and he has become an invaluable asset to the company. Larry joined Pacific Bindery Services in 2001 as a production coordinator and quickly moved into the role of Customer Service Supervisor.
Today, Larry is our Operations Manager and manages the Plant Floor, Shipping and Receiving, as well as our the planning, scheduling and estimating activities in our Production Office.
Noel Flores joined Pacific Bindery Services in 2008 as our Accountant. In 2014 he moved into the position of Controller for the company – a reflection of his hard work and commitment.
Noel’s work values and dedication have contributed to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department. Noel is responsible for overseeing all of the company’s accounting functions, including payroll administration, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger and preparation of financial statements. Noel also acts as the company’s Privacy Officer and ensures internal privacy policies are maintained.
